Mokee Tipi Giveaway! CLOSED

mokee tipiz baby tent

UPDATE: The winner of the Mokee Tipi Tent is Katie Groves! I’ll contact you by email for your address – congratulations!

I nice little reprieve from the whole Gestational Diabetes debacle (yes I do have it, update post coming soon) and the electric shock pains that seem to be shooting about in my crotch and bladder this week: a gorgeous giveaway for you. Brilliant baby brand Mokee have kindly offered to give away one of their beautiful Tipiz to one UK reader – and I can vouch for how lovely the Tipiz are because I have one right here!

Suitable from birth (but they really come into their own when babies start toddling and properly playing) the Tipiz are made from high-quality lime tree sticks and 100% cotton canvas – they look so pretty that it’s actually a joy to have one up in the house. Usually with large baby or toddler things you want to get rid of them as fast as possible into the loft/shed/broom cupboard, but this is properly good-looking.

mokee tipiz baby tent

Angelica often disappears into hers at the moment to lay out her wooden tea set and arrange her teddies for little parties. She likes to be closed in (the front doors close on magnets, which is a nice touch) and then pop her head out and shout BOO.

Hours of fun!

Ours is currently in the snug, but if you are short of space, or entertaining, then not to worry – it’s really easy to just gather up the sticks and lean the Tipi into a corner. I can imagine that this is going to be amazing in the garden this summer, too – perfect place to create some shade when it’s not raining.

Right – entries in the comments section below please! This giveaway is open until 27th January (this Friday) at 12 noon GMT, just leave your email in the form where prompted and a suitably nice/uplifting comment. If you’re stuck for something to say then just write “TIPI PLEASE!”

The Tipiz from Mokee come with different coloured sticks – the one I have to give away has mint sticks and the white and grey canvas. If you want to browse the Mokee site (my cot is from them and is excellent – review post here) then you can do so by clicking here.

Hi Ruth! I am 30 weeks pregnant with a little girl, and if she turns out like I did, the tipizip will get a lot of use! I always used to sit under my mom’s stool with a cloth over it pretending it was an ice cream van for some reason?!

Love reading your blog. You are my guru for baby purchases for my little granddaughter Esmerelda who is a little younger than Angelica. I would be grateful for the brand of wooden tea set that Angelica has?
Would be over the moon to win this play house for her!

Ah gorge! Your baba and the tipi. The baby Squish would have tons of fun in this!

Whilst I’m already commenting, your journey through vbac or not to vbac has been so interesting to follow. I didn’t know that induction was different if you had a section! All of it has defo contributed to me having a massive think about my own baby related future, so thank you for sharing such a massively personal thing.

    Wishing you all the best!

Loved reading your blog recently, I’ve just brought the babydan cherry and black baby gate from your recommendation… now I’m just trying to figure out how I’m going to express enough milk for my little boy when I start back at work in march (the last time we tried a bottle was 6 months and that did not go down well) he will be nearly 11 months so I’m trying to figure out my options so you’re breastfeeding posts have been so helpful!

This looks so lovely, Hudsons room is Grey and would look picture perfect in the corner with all his books!!

Sending love you’re baby for baby no 2… I totally get the big baby thing (Hudson was 9,8 and we had a gestational diabetics scare so know exactly how you feel)

    Tipi please!

Love reading the blog and it has been a godsend since finding out we’re due to have twins at the end of May and feeling completely clueless about everything…your honest reviews have made prioritisng items to buy so much easier.

And if the babies don’t like the tipi I reckon I can just about fit and hide in there whilst they take over the run of the house…

    Good luck with your second!

Oh my 18 month old son and myself would love a tipi please! We currently fashion our own out of a clothes horse and a duvet cover. We like to sit inside and pretend there’s monsters (he’s mastered roaring) outside until eventually he gets too excited and tries to escape too quickly and brings the whole thing down. Xxx

    January 23, 2017 / 3:41 pm

I’m due with my second exactly the same week as you! Although we don’t know what we’re having a little girl would be nice who might sit quietly and play tea parties in this lovely tipi rather than the boisterous climbing games favourited by 3 year old little boy ☺️

Been loving the “Up Hill” blog Ruth specially as a Mamma to a 3 year old and a 5 week old.

I’m 2 weeks behind you pregnancy-wise and today is the first day of my maternity leave, for my first baby. I’m bouncing on a birthing ball whiling away the hours by writing my birth plan and reading your blog. What a joyful time I’m having. And now…play time! The tipi is gorgeous – the thought of our baby girl playing in it with her cousin Louie makes me a little teary. Gotta love those hormones!

All the best for the next stage of preggoness, and sorry to hear it involves tackling gestational diabetes. I hope you manage to keep as calm and relaxed as possible, and the best thing to think about is that you get to meet Little No. 2 soon. Joy!

Thanks for all your help so far, and no doubt in the future X

Lovely to read your blog while I was pregnant with my little boy. The breastfeeding blogs were EXTREMELY helpful! If you have any advice on weaning him off, I’d really appreciate it, he’s nearly 13 months, struggling with any kind of cup so advice is always welcome (and desperately needed).

I’m sure he would love the tipi as well!

Hi Ruth! I’m 33 weeks pregnant with my first child. We’ve chosen not to find out the sex so have decorated our nursery grey so our house still looks suitably grown up and this would match perfectly! We also have a Ragdoll cat called Benson who is sadly going to have his nose slightly pushed out of join and actually, initially, he’d probably love the tipi to hide away from h baby..!! In time, I’m sure the baby would love to host a tea party in the tipi for th cat when they become friends ⛺️ Xxx

    January 23, 2017 / 5:28 pm

Hi Ruth, im a secret reader normally… My first baby is due in May and the tipi would be a lovely addition for him/her. I’m a midwife and have read your recent Vbac posts with interest, I have a keen interest in vaginal delivery after ceasarian and over the last few years have lead a team of midwives specialising in vbac and home birth. I have felt the anguish in your posts about which way to go with mode of delivery and if I were in your position would struggle too given your history. Does the recent diagnosis of GDM makes your decision slightly easier? I think it would for me and perhaps a little part of me would be glad the decision was out of my hands should you decide on a section. I’d feel as though the decision was based clinical findings as opposed to whether I was willing to try for a normal birth or not.
I wish you all the best whatever you decide and look forward to reading your happy news. X

    January 23, 2017 / 5:37 pm

Ah gosh I have a diabetes test next week and I am very scared thanks for sharing your journeh. Sorry you are having to go through all that, not nice at all. I am due with no2 in April, this time it’s a boy but last time I had a girl noe 3, she loves little cubby holes to creep into and I suspect she would play tea parties with her dolls in a tipi. I think a tipi would look fab in her new big girls room. I am trying to make it as appealing as possible as she is scared of dinasours and bears and doesnt like sleeping alone 🙁 so dojng a girly but stylish theme with a bright pink purple wall and brightly coloured animals such as flamingos. Anyway I think this stylish tipi would really finish her room off, have wanted one for ages but not within my current budget so please pick me pick me, please 🙂 xx

Oooooh I have been eyeing these up since checking out the Mookee cot you recommended 🙂 Our new arrival is a little way off just yet, but despite not having any essentials such as cot, pram, car seat, a single baby grow…. I think this insta-worthy tipi world be an excellent starting point

Note to self, must rethink priorities 😉

  134. Chloe Bray
    January 23, 2017 / 6:03 pm

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and teetering on the edge of gestational diabetes. I went in the other week for testing. Ended up sliding down the wall in a comedy manner about half an hour after gulping that awful orange drink. Because of my ample pregnancy size, I was hauled to the nearest couch by two huffing, puffing hospital porters (went alone as husband was away on business). To add insult to injury I was wearing a dress and flashed my MASSIVE pregnancy pants to the whole waiting room. Ahh the joys!

I hope your testing went far more smoothly than my experience and I’m off to watch your video just in case I do develop it in the final weeks.

Best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy 🙂

Reading your blog and watching your videos became a habitual and very enjoyable part of my pregnancy. Your witty style would often have me laughing out loud and kept me upbeat about welcoming my little bundle of joy when everything feels that little bit daunting. ‘Henry The Giant’ arrived 11 weeks ago and what fun we have had. I would love Henry to have a TIPI to use as his den and also create a very cosy and attractive cat bed!
Thinking of you for the coming weeks xx

Oh it’s lovely! My 2 year old would love this (although he would probably knock it over a million times a day and drive me mad). I’m 22 weeks pregnant with his baby brother so I can imagine him retreating into it and shutting the doors for some peace in a few months!

Love love love watching your real and down to earth videos and reading your blogs.. you make me feel better about not being the ‘perfect’ and ‘ideal’ woman as the media would have us believe is expected. Your brute honesty and hilarious twitter posts about munching all of the sweets make my day. Thank you!
I don’t have a little one myself yet but I have a gorgeous nephew who would love this and his brand new baby sister when she’s a bit older.
    Thanks for being you!

    January 23, 2017 / 6:57 pm

For a start yes I would really like that tipi. Yes for little Luna but more honestly for me. Iv got visions of snuggling in and story times. This undoubtedly will not happen as babies have a habit of doing the exact opposite to what you want them too. If I popped a plug socket in there she’d be straight in though. But I would like to say thank you. Luna is 9months old and I found your blog during my pregnancy. I was nervous and had no friends that had gone through this experience. I read your week by week guide and prepped and felt like someone understood what I was going through. You don’t know who I am and you probably never will, but from the bottom of my heart thank you for holding my hand through all of this. Because it’s hard and magical all at the same time.

    TIPI Please.
I was tested early for gestational diabetes due to diabetes being I’m my family. I was just over the threshold but glad of it as it does get worse the as your pregnancy goes on. The NHS are all over this and it is way more common than you think.
If you haven’t already please check out the gestational diabetes page. It’s not through the NHS but rather through those that have had it. Providing advise on meals and how to potentially diet control your levels. Their Facebook page is great. Plus lots of super cute photos of newly arrived babies in the world.
I’m not tolerating carbs as well any more so cutting down on the likes of bread and pasta. Looking forward to your post and good luck. Be sure to pack some chocolate in your hospital bag to munch once the little one arrives. X

Would love a Tipi for much awaited little one arriving in April ❤❤

  201. January 23, 2017 / 9:00 pm

Little baby A is doing a cracking job of modelling this! So excited that there is going to be new baby on the way to hear about too. This is by far my favourite baby blog and was an absolutely god send and joy to read when I was pregnant. Why are there so few decent UK baby blogs around?? Anyway, I enjoy reading your blog so much I was worried it might tail off as Angelica got older but now you have to keep it going to keep us updated on baby no.2! Anyway, I would love to win this for my little girl who would have an absolute ball in it. X

My 15 month old daughter Frances would love this! I’m also thinking it would be a useful place to hide all her toys at the end of a long day (and they’re all long days aren’t they?!) I had gestational diabetes – all managed through diet and ended up losing weight during the pregnancy so it wasn’t all that bad

    January 23, 2017 / 9:50 pm

Don’t worry Ruth I also had the old GD they put me on metformin tablets to control it and after I had George I had no further problems. They thought he would be huge but he was only 7’11 ….lbs not feet lol gosh that would be uncomfortable. I also went for elective c section as previous baby ended up being an emergency one. It was very pleasant if having yourself cut open like a magicians dolly bird could be called that.
I would love to win this for him he’s 10 months old and loves hiding and peekaboo This would cover both Good luck with the baby x

I love how honest you are about your pregnancy, it made me feel so much better and more normal about the difficult parts of my pregnancy when most people only write about the amazing parts of their pregnancy. And now my baby has been born I’m finding so many of the products that you reccomended are so useful. Thank you!!! Xxx

    January 24, 2017 / 8:21 am

I’ve been a silent reader of your blog for a while now – it made me feel normal in the early months when everyone else’s babies had a perfect routine and perfect sleep and my daughter was still nursing to sleep every single bedtime! Happy times. If only my story had a happy sleep ending like yours!

This is a bit unusual but I have a friend whose little girl (3.5 months) would probably love the Tipiz especially when she gets to the sitting up stage soon (our 14-month-old is at the OoohWHATSISTHATletsDESTROYIT stage so would probably make quick work of the Tipiz!)

    January 24, 2017 / 8:25 am

Hope you’re new little one doesn’t keep you waiting too long so you can get back on the magnums! I’m currently 24 weeks pregnant with my first, a tipi would brighten up our living room a treat as they get older.

Hi Ruth I have a little Red Indian in the making who I am certain this tipi would bring tremendous joy to! She’s only 6 weeks old at the moment but, if she’s anything like her mother, she will love a den in her room. Mine usually consisted of the broom, the mop, some books for weights, and a bed sheet and some creative draping! I love the fact that this tipi is so portable and can be moved around our (tiny) house and garden. I discovered your blog only recently at 36 weeks pregnant but I’m an avid reader now and find your recommendations and suggestions for Angelica really helpful. Good luck with number 2 and thank you. I enjoy the honesty and positivity of your reflections on motherhood.

Hi Ruth, love reading The Uphill! As a pregnant mum to be (33 weeks), it’s helped to answer a lot of my questions (what cot to buy, etc). I’ve also got Gestational Diabetes so totally feel your pain. You’ve not got long to go now though until you meet your little one – hope it all goes well in the run-up! I’d love to win the Mokee tent, and sure my bubba will have hours of fun in there once old enough x

Hi Ruth. My 20 month old daughter would love this. It might make up for her being knocked from the top spot (or rather having to share the top spot) by her younger brother who arrived a few days ago. He was a bit early and I thought we were going to be pretty much in sync with you. But you know what thought did… Looking forward to your blog getting me through the tough times of juggling a toddler and a newborn. F X

My boy is only 11 weeks but this would brighten up his nursery and would be great to have when he starts sitting up and playing more. I’m trying to work out whether the tipi is mostly aimed at Mummies, Daddies or babies?! I think perhaps all three on a rota: massage cushion and cup of tea, cocktail set and newspaper, and miniature tea set….multi-purpose tipi bringing joy to all!

Aw love the idea of baby AMR serving her cuddly toys tea in a tipi!
I like to think my little (18 months old, messy hair, often has something sticky on her face/hands, chats gobbledegook, willful) would serve tea parties but in this if we won it but in all likelihood she would probably charge in and out of it shouting at Mr monkey and Barbara bunny and causing them hours of cuddly toy therapy whisky also chasing the cat. It would still be very entertaining to watch. Just not as cute as tea parties. Oh well, worth a shot to win. I hope the stabbing pains in your nether regions aren’t too uncomfortable :/

    Lots of love

Side note-I just read your other post and you say iron tablets cause u constipation. You need to take it with vitamin c or orange juice etc as this will help ur body absorb the iron so as to not make u constipated. (U can also get iron tabs with vit c in them too) or if u take natural iron that doesn’t give constipation. It’s called floradix. Get it from any pharmacy. Dark chocolate contains iron to
